Uh Oh, you are attending a wedding and don't know what to wear! Well we have the answers on all things fashion. Follow the tips below and you will be "in-style"!

Fashion Do's and Don'ts for Wedding Guests

As a wedding guest, you want to look your best while respecting the bride and groom's wishes. To ensure that you make a great impression, here are some fashion do's and don'ts for wedding guests.

When it comes to weddings, there is nothing worse than being the guest who stands out for all the wrong reasons. Whether it's because you're wearing too much white or your outfit is just plain inappropriate, it's important to dress appropriately for the occasion. After all, the last thing you want is to upstage the bride or be the talk of the town for all the wrong reasons.

To help you avoid any fashion faux pas, here are a few do's and don'ts for wedding guests:

  • Do dress your age. Just because you're over 50 doesn't mean you have to wear matronly clothing. However, avoid dressing like you're still in your 20s. The key is to find a happy medium that allows you to feel comfortable and stylish at the same time.
  • Do avoid wearing all white. Unless specifically told by the bride that guests can wear white, avoid it at all costs. You don't want to upstage the bride or look like you're trying to steal her thunder. Instead, opt for muted colors or prints that will complement the bride's dress without overshadowing it.
  • Do take cues from the invitation. The invitation should give you a good idea of what kind of event it will be. If it's a black-tie affair, then you'll know to dress accordingly. However, if it's a more casual affair, then you can get away with wearing something a little more relaxed.
  • Don't forget about accessories. Your outfit isn't complete until you've added the finishing touches. A statement necklace or flashy earrings can really help to pull an outfit together and make you look more put-together. Just be sure not to go overboard - less is almost always more when it comes to accessories.
  • Don't wear revealing clothing. Even if it's a beach wedding, there's no need to show off too much skin. You want to look stylish and chic, not trashy or tacky. Avoid anything that is too short, too tight, or has a plunging neckline. Not only will you be more comfortable, but you'll also avoid any embarrassing fashion mishaps.

When it comes to fashion, wedding guests often make one of two mistakes - they either dress too formally or too casually. To avoid making either mistake, take cues from the invitation and keep your outfit age-appropriate while avoiding anything that is too revealing or showy (such as all-white). With these simple tips in mind, you'll be sure to make a great impression at any wedding celebration!

Happy Monday! Today I thought I would share some of the mistakes or pitfalls of the wedding planning process.  Just a few tips to remember when planning your big day.

1.  Remember why you are doing this....Too many people get caught up in all of the little details and stress of wedding planning.  Remember that you are marrying the love of your life.   You are committing your lives to each other in front of friends and family.  You are celebrating your love.

2.  Don't always steer the conversation to your wedding planning...When you are with your friends and family, yes, they want to hear how it is going.  No, they don't want wedding planning to be the only topic of conversation when they are with you....plus you want to keep some of the fun details a surprise!

3.  Losing your personality in the wedding...You are celebrating the love of two people.  Let your personalities show, as individuals and as a couple.  It can be through decor, table names, food choices, song choices..but stay true to yourselves...Just because you saw it on Pinterest doesn't mean you have to do it.  Be yourself!

4.  Not hiring professional, experienced wedding professionals...This is a big one!!  You think you are getting a great deal by hiring that DJ or Photographer that's a friend of a friend who does weddings on the side...BIG MISTAKE...make sure your wedding pros are experienced in wedddings, have the appropriate licensure and insurance, can provide references.  There are horror stories all over the internet from brides who went the cheap way and it ended up costing them so much more emotionally and monetarily.

5.  Underbudgeting...Don't underestimate how quickly the small things add up...postage, garter, that cute little sign you saw on etsy, hair accessories, getting your nails done, driving around town on wedding errands (hey, gas is expensive).

Hi All,

Happy Tuesday! This week we are featuring Jessica and Chris on the blog.

They are such a fun couple - one of their hobbies is Kickball!  And their wedding was definitely a party - can you say confetti cannon, pyrotechnics and crowdsurfing?!

After searching all over for a venue they loved and not finding what they wanted, they decided to convert her parent's backyard into a gorgeous reception venue.  It was so special because the house on Singer Island has been in their family since 1952.  Family gatherings have been taking place at this house for generations.  It was the perfect choice for them!

Happy 2019!!

We are excited to see what the new year brings! So many people got engaged over the holidays but now you are thinking...Holy Cow, what do I do now!

It seems like all of the sudden everyone is asking you things like

  • "When is the Wedding"
  • "What is Your Theme"
  • "Who is in the Wedding"
  • "Can I Bring a Date"
  • "I Have a Friend who is a ______ (Photographer, baker, officiant, florist, etc)"
  • "I Have 15 Dietary Restrictions...that won't be a problem will it"

So the first thing to do is take a deep breath...this will all be ok.  Here are some reminders and Top 10 things to do

  • Enjoy the Moments - Being engaged is special, take the time to stare at your ring for hours, flip through wedding magazines, and dare I say it, spend time on Pinterest (just don't get sucked into the Pinterest vortex!)
  • Decide on things you like and don't like - find your style.

Don't forget Date Nights and Exercise!

And most important of all...

Remember why you are doing all of this...to celebrate your love and commitment to each other!

Here are our Top 10 things to do now that you are engaged.

1.  Decide what kind of wedding you want - Destination Wedding, Formal Wedding, Casual Wedding at the Beach, Something Rustic, Something Classic

2.  If you don't live near your families, decide where you will hold the wedding.

3.  Have an open, honest conversation with both families about any money they be contributing to the wedding, what costs you are expected to cover, how you are to use funds contributed by your families.  This one is hard and stressful...but better to get it out in the open and avoid conflict later on down the line.

4.  Start you guest list - Be realistic - if you haven't spoken with, emailed or seen these people in over a year - seriously think about whether they need to be invited - this includes distant family. And remember the size of the venue you select will impact the size of the guest list.

5.  Decide what time of year you want to get married - know the busy times of year in your area, check for popular dates, dates that are important to your family (birthdays, milestones, etc), holidays, festival dates (in West Palm - Sunfest, BoatShow, Tree Lighting, etc).

6.  Choose your wedding party - and no, you don't have to have the same number of bridesmaids and groomsmen and yes, you can have bridesmen and groomsladies.

7.  Select your venue.  But don't visit more than 2-3 venues in one day.  It's overwhelming, confusing and tiring.

8.  Get your engagement ring appraised and insured.  This one isn't fun but it is necessary!

9.  Start refining your budget by category.

10.  HIRE A WEDDING PLANNER!!! No matter what level of planning you hire (full planning, partial planning, month of coordination) you have just hired someone to give you Peace of Mind and you can't put a pricetag on that item!
