Hey all..so that title might have caught your attention.  Well today is a little tough love in the blog.  The brutally, honest truth is that no one owes you a wedding or reception.  Your parents don't have to pay for some grande affair, nor do they have to pay for a more budget friendly affair.  In fact, there is no rule that says that they have to pay for a wedding at all.

Now you are all thinking, "she is a wedding planner, right"  Yes, I am and No, I have not lost my mind.  What I am doing is trying to inject some reality and honesty into the wedding conversation.

Just because Pinterest, Say Yes to the Dress, and a bazillion wedding blogs say you need all this wedding "stuff" does not mean that you are automatically entitled to a wedding and it all entails.

Let's face it...the most important thing is the ceremony.  The act of getting married, committing your lives to each through good times and bad.  Isn't that what it's all about?!

Now, I like a great party and celebration more than anyone.  Getting to create magic for a couple on their special day;  there is nothing like that feeling.  When it all comes together and everyone is having fun and dancing the night away, that is pure heaven. But remember, we are celebrating marriage.

It all goes back to really setting a budget and knowing what you can afford.  Then you can plan accordingly.  If you have champagne taste on a beer budget, then you are going to have to make compromises.

Remember, you are marrying your soulmate.  Your friends and family are there to celebrate with you.  Just keep that in mind when you are on pinterest overload and have just binge watched Say Yes to the Dress all day.

Hi All!  As part of the re-launch of our blog we have chosen to feature our weddings and events throughout the year.  So get ready for some gorgeous-ness overload in 2016.

We met Abbie and Brian in February 2015 and instantly knew that they were fun, totally in love with each other and that their wedding was going to be EPIC.  On December 12 major epic-ness happened. From the getting ready, to the first look, to the ceremony, reception and after party no detail was left untouched.

Enjoy Abbie and Brian's love story!

Hello everyone! You are probably thinking...holy cow a new blog post.  Jen hasn't written one a quite a while.  And yes that is true. I have been a slacker but no more!   After all, it's a new year.

So, I wanted to take a moment to talk about some of the great things happening in weddings in 2014.  This such an exciting time to be getting married.  First and foremost, we always tell our couples to stay true to who they are individually and as a couple!  Remember that, stay true to who you are.

1.  The rules- There are no rules.  So this fun and scary all at the same time.   What it means is that you can put your own spin on traditions.  You don't have to all of the traditional elements in a wedding - bouquet toss/garter toss for example.  It means you are free to make your wedding uniquely your own.  NO COOKIE CUTTER weddings.

2.  Pinterest & Other Online Sources - These are amazing places to get inspirations and ideas.  But beware of getting sucked in...Don't change your wedding theme or colors just because you saw 20 pictures of something on Pinterest.  You do not have to do something just because it is on Pinterest.  Not every geographic area follows the same trends.  Locations can dictate photo opportunities, style and more.

3.  Book your vendors early - I say this because 2014 has one of those crazy dates ... 12/13/14 is a Saturday and will be huge for weddings.  So please, book your team early to ensure that you get the team you want.  This is true for any date, but 12/13/14 will be especially hectic.

4.  Color - If you want bright colors, use them.  If you want pale colors, use them.  If you want classic colors, use them.  Pantone says that Radiant Orchid is the color of 2014.  Great...but if you want a classic, black and white wedding go for it.

5. Culture/Heritage - Yes, please, incorporate your culture and heritage into your wedding.  It is fantastic to see a couple coming together, celebrating their love and committment and combining their heritages to create a new family. So it can be in food, drink, decor, favors, music, ceremony elements...but incorporating some of your family's heritage will mean a lot to you as the couple, and your families.

The common element in everything I am saying, is be who are you.  Don't try to please everyone...because you won't and then you will be miserable.  Enjoy your day.  Create a day that celebrates you individually and together. Trust your instincts.   And last but not least, hire an awesome planner like us.  :)

Happy New Year everyone!
Look for a new blog post every Wednesday!
Best,
Jen
