It came as a shock to everyone in the wedding industry, future brides and grooms and many more that Style Me Pretty shut down with no advance warning.  New content stopped being posted last week and the entire site will shut down as of April 30.

Style Me Pretty was the gold-standard in our business.  Everyone wanted to have their weddings featured on the blog.  Being a Style Me Pretty vendor gave you a "cool factor" but then more and more wedding blogs appeared.

Something happened...many blogs all started to feature the same type of wedding and photos that Style Me Pretty loved.  The same aesthetic started popping up all over the internet.

What started as something where creative and unique weddings were celebrated, became the same thing over and over again.  Mountains, boho vibes, perfect size 2 brides and grooms in suspenders and beards with just the right amount of scruff were everywhere.

In our world real weddings feature people that aren't all size 2 models.  Real weddings are in ballrooms and on beaches and in churches.  In our world real weddings are beautiful, and unique and wonderful.  They reflect who the couple is and we celebrate them for their uniqueness.

While, we are sad to see Style Me Pretty go, there is a piece of us that hopes that the blogosphere will acknowledge the differences and celebrate Love in all shapes, forms and celebrations.

What do you think about the end of Style Me Pretty and how wedding blogs portray weddings?

We would love to hear your thoughts!

Hi All!  We hope you are having a great summer.  Enjoy the slower days, longer nights, a drink with a friend!  We are enjoying the slower pace and recharging for next Season! Here in South Florida our Season is September through May...so a bit opposite of the rest of the USA!

Recently we have noticed a lot of discussions for people in creative industries about being authentic in your business.  So we decided to share what we think being authentic in our business means.

1. We are really good at weddings!  Not to be braggy...but weddings are our thing.  We love brides.  We love grooms.  We love design and details and solving problems. And the best feeling in the world is watching the couple make their committments to each other and then celebrating with those closest to them.

2.  We are proud of who we are outside of the business.  Jen is a proud soccer mom.  Mandi is also a personal trainer and loves all things fitness.  Ashli is a proud mom and stepmom.  Lara loves performing in musical theater.  Focusing on these things in our lives make us better for you.

3.  We make mistakes...there I said it...sometimes we mess up.  But we own it, we fix it and we move on.

4.  You won't hear us using random jargon...Swoonworthy is not a part of our vocabulary.  So what we are saying is that we don't try use language or "the hip words" that you find on some blogs and websites.  It would sound funny coming from us.

5.  We love classic elegance and individuality.  Now that may sound like they don't work together...but they do.  We love gorgeous classic weddings.  We aren't overly trendy, but adding a little something here and there is a great idea.  We love celebrating each couple and what makes them unique.  Following the latest fad just to follow it...not our style.

So we ask you, what does being authentic mean to you? And how does that translate when you are planning your wedding and hiring your wedding pros?

Hi Friends!  Today I wanted to talk about something that we all run across during the wedding planning process.

It is so easy to get caught up in the excitement and in the planning itself.  All of your family and friends have such great ideas for your special day.  Suddenly the guest list is growing.  You "just have to have" a 10 piece orchestra playing your favorite song during the cocktail hour.  A confetti cannon and fireworks, sure no problem...just add them.  24k gold flatware for the dinner tables becomes a "must have."

Suddenly your wedding is a giant production.  People you don't know are being invited, your vision has been distorted. And you want to runaway and elope.  It's time to STEP AWAY from the planning.

Take a deep breath and re-evaluate.  Remember why you are getting married...Oh yeah, you are making a committment to one another.  You are celebrating your committment with your family and friends.

Stay true to who you are as invididuals and as a couple (ever notice that I repeat this one a lot?).

Stay within your budget (a couple hundred here, a thousand there and next thing you know you are donating your plasma to help pay for the wedding).

Don't do something because Aunt Suzy offers to pay for it, if it is not what you want, or just for show, don't do it.

If you want fireworks and they are in your budget then go for it.  I am not saying don't have a luxury wedding with all the bells and whistles.

You can have the most gorgeous wedding in the world...but if you are doing it just to try to impress people or to show off, then all of the gorgeous-ness of the day is gone.

The true-est beauty at every wedding is during those vows, when you promise to spend your life loving each other.

I know, it probably sounds weird for a wedding planner to say all of this.  But I am taking my own advice and speaking from the heart.

Happy Planning!
