We got to ring in 2018 with the gorgeous and totally fun wedding of Emily and Alex at the West Palm Beach Hilton.

They celebrated the New Year in style with so many unique and fun elements!  And the gorgeous evening ceremony was so full of love and tradition.  The whole weekend was a blend of the traditional and modern.

Hey All,  Well we made it through Thanksgiving...but that means Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanza and New Year's Eve are right around the corner.  So it seemed like a perfect time to remind everyon on what it takes to be a gracious host.  Let's face it entertaining is fun, yet exhausting.  So here are a few tips to help your next get together flow smoothly.

1.  Prepare as much of the food and drink the day before the gathering as possible.  This allows you more time on the day of for small details.

2.  Set out serving pieces, linens, tableware and decor 1-2 days prior to the event.  You will have time to play with the design a bit and again less to do on the day of the event.

3.  Have food options such as some veggie items, some chicken, some beef...if at all possible.  Your guests will appreciate that you took to the time to take their dietary choices into account.

4.  Always send a thank you to your guests for attending your get together.  A handwritten note is such a rarity these days, your guests will truly appreciate it.

5.  Thank you guests for attending as they arrive.

6.  If a guest brings you a hostess gift that you is not to your taste or style...send a gracious thank you note anyway.

7.  Be prepared and be on-time.  There is nothing more embarrassing than having guests arrive if you are not dressed, or are still organizing or decorating.

8.  Greet each guest personally.

9.  Make your home visitor friendly...make sure you have extra supplies of toilet paper, hand towels, hand soaps, etc.  Keep your home at a comfortable temperature...this means setting a bit cooler than normal...the extra people will generate warmth.

10.  Relax and Enjoy!  You have put a lot of hard work into your gathering.

We leave you with a little inspiration for those holiday tablescapes.

Have a fantastic day and watch for more holiday entertaingin inspiration soon!

xoxo,

Yesterday, after reading the annual Oprah's Favorite Things magazine issue, we were inspired to share our favorite things with you.  Some of them are wedding related, some of related to the holidays and some are just our favorite things about our lives.  We hope you enjoy!

Jen's Favorite Things:

1.  Watching dad walk his daughter down the aisle.  I cry everytime and usually the dads are crying too.  The beauty in the pure emotion is so special!

2.  Seeing the surprise on my son's face after Santa has come to our house. (I think that this will be the last year he believes and I am going to cherish every moment.)

3.  The smell of cookies baking and hot chocolate always put me in the holiday spirit.

4.  Seeing the look on a groom's face the first time he sees his bride.   Another moment of tears for me.

5.  Giving back at the holidays and all year are so important in our family.  It is one of my favorite things to help make turkey dinners and shop for Toys for Tots...but we must remember that the need is there year round for these families.

6. Seeing all of the hard work and planning for an event or wedding come together is one of my favorite things.  Just knowing that we played a role in such an amazing day is such a huge reward.

7.  Giving gifts to others is another favorite thing...bringing a smile to someone else is magical.

8.  Watching a bride and groom, their family and friends celebrate their love and the beginning of their life together is so full promise and joy and that is what made me choose this profession.

Mandi's Favorite Things:

1.  Spending time with family at the holidays.

2.  Making a little girl's dream become reality on her wedding day.

3. Driving around and looking at the Christmas lights with family.

4. The tears in the eyes of the parents as they give their daughter away...I can't help but cry too.

5. Hearing a Christmas song and singing along.  It always makes me happy!

6. Witnessing the love that two people share and watching two families unite.

7.  Finding the perfect gift for someone special and then watching them open it.

8. Seeing the endless possibilities of colors, themse and ideas for a wedding.  It gets my creative side energeize.
